STEM CHARTER STUDENTS RECEIVE EARLY ACCEPTANCE FROM PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITIES: Two Chesapeake Science Point Students Accept Offers to MIT & John Hopkins University
HANOVER, MD (February 4, 2021) – Our Chesapeake Lighthouse Foundation is delighted to announce two amazing AACPS students at Chesapeake Science Point have formally been accepted to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and John Hopkins University (JHU). Both members of the Class of 2021, Senior Isa Liggans is set to attend MIT in the fall and Nahuel Albayrak to JHU.
Chesapeake Science Point, CLF’s flagship program est. in 2005, is set to have their 16th graduation commencement on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Severna Park High School, where both Nahuel and Isa will officially receive their high school diplomas before venturing to the college world. The public school boasts a 100% combined college acceptance rate and a 100% high school graduation rate.
In the era of COVID-19, many seniors are finding early college acceptance rates decreasing, especially in prestigious and ivy league schools. Both universities have astonishing acceptance rates (less than 10%!); we are so proud of Nahuel and Isa’s success despite the many challenges the pandemic causes. The two students have an opportunity to not only receive early acceptance, but to attend the universities of choice they dreamed of for years.
CLF also sends our wholehearted congratulations to the three (3) POSSE scholarship recipients at our sister school, Chesapeake Math & IT Academy South. This is a tremendous accomplishment considering the size of the school and CMIT South being the only school to have 3 out of 14 recipients awarded.
Chesapeake Science Point & CMIT Academies are top rated S.T.E.A.M charter schools providing these students and many alumni with the tools and skills to maximize their potentials and succeed at some of the most prestigious universities, by student choice.
